-- DE Will Overstreet was placed on injured reserve for the third time in as many years with a left shoulder injury. He won't know if he needs surgery again for a few more weeks. Doctors have not been able to read his MRI because of clutter in the joint.

-- WLB Keith Brooking appeared to break his nose in practice last week. That has happened many times before.

-- CB Aaron Beasley, a nine-year veteran who's started 102 games in his NFL career, continues working at CB and S for the Falcons. His chances of making the team appear good right now. "Lot of experience," said defensive coordinator Ed Donatell. "He was a corner with a lot of feel, a starter early in his career. This guy's always found a way to start. That says something about the kind of player he is because he didn't come out as a burner. Usually, those guys are intuitive."

-- MLB Chris Draft, who missed nearly two weeks of work because of complications related to asthma, was back in action last week. He started and played against the Vikings Aug. 20, and reported no problems.

-- QB Michael Vick completed five of nine passes for 35 yards against the Vikings Aug. 20. "He's been much more accurate throwing the ball on the run in practice than he was tonight," coach Jim Mora said. "And he will be more accurate. We knocked some dust off Mike. Two of his incompletions were throwaways." Vick, who just over a week ago said he'd never again run in a preseason game, rushed three times for 18 yards. After a 6-yard scamper around left end that took Vick out of bounds, he appeared to grab his right hamstring with his hand. He strained that hamstring Aug. 5 in a practice at Tennessee, missing a few days of practice afterward. Team officials said Vick probably felt a slight twinge, but neither he nor Mora believed felt it was serious.

-- Falcons owner Arthur Blank completed his purchase of the Georgia Force, an Arena Football League team. The Force will be housed at the Falcons' complex, about 55 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta. Construction to expand the Falcons' current facility will begin this fall.

-- P Chris Mohr's launched a song-writing career Tuesday with the release of Travis Tritt's latest CD, "my honky tonk history." On it, Tritt sings, "I see me," co-written by Mohr and Nashville-based songwriter Casey Beathard, the son of former Falcons senior advisor Bobby Beathard. The song is about Mohr's oldest son, 11-year-old Garrett.
